How recordhood works

recordhood lists new vinyl records from record shops in one place, so you can see which shop has the album you want and where it's cheapest.

Where the prices come from

Every day we download each shop's product catalog. A record that disappears from a shop's catalog disappears from recordhood too, so you don't click through to something that's sold out. Prices include VAT; shipping is not included and differs per shop. The shop's own page always has the final price.

How albums are matched

Shops name the same album differently. We match each listing to an album in MusicBrainz, the open music encyclopedia, by barcode first and by artist and title otherwise. (musicbrainz.org) When we're not sure, the listing stays on its own with the shop's title instead of being attached to the wrong album. Spotted a wrong match? Use “Wrong album or listing?” under the offer and we'll fix it.

How we earn money

Some links to shops are affiliate links: when you buy through them, the shop pays us a small commission. You pay the same price. Commissions never change the order of offers. They are always sorted by price, cheapest first, and shops without an affiliate program are listed too.
